Is Tesla's Success Surprising Why?

Do you know about Tesla, not the Inventor But The Company?

Well, actually many people didn't know the inventor until the company had such a mainstream impact that introduced the inventor the many. Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla motors named it after the great inventor NikolaTesla, now if you want to google the word Tesla the first results are going to be about Tesla or its models, the company were named as a tribute to the great inventor.

What is so special about Tesla Motors?

Elon Musk the Real Iron Man

Well simply said it is the revolutionary mindset!

When the largest car manufacturers were expecting a period of at least 10 to 20 years until electric cars will be mass produced, Tesla motors came up with an electric car that could achieve speeds and acceleration matching names like PorchesFerrari, and many other high-speed cars with a relatively good range per charge.

After some time, Tesla made another car the Model S that is a luxury car with great acceleration and handling and they did one thing more, all the cars sold; get a lifetime free charge from Tesla chargers that were covering more areas across northern America.

Then they announced that they will introduce a cheaper smaller car that will be mass produced and will cover a range of more than 200 miles per charge. And now production started but a delivery time of the first model 3 cars is expected to be in mid-2017.

During all this, other car manufacturers were looking to catch up with Tesla, but sometimes large companies become so used to the way they do things that it becomes hard to do things in another way. The Chevy Volt was an aggressive response to the challenge that Tesla has set Chevrolet CEO says that Tesla's achievements were an inspiration.

But still, why is Tesla so charming?

There are many factors, one of them is the way Tesla and its founder connect and address their customers. Elon Musk has now been known to the real version of Iron Man, because not only he is coming with new ideas and thoughts but he is actually close to end-users, in many conferences he attends and lectures in, the time allocated to questions is rather huge compared to other CEOs.

Yes other CEOs can answer 3-5 questions, but most of the times the answers are either going around in circles not answering the questions asked, or in other cases, the response would be I don’t know or you need to ask another person, and that sometimes reflects weakness. Did you see how Mark Zuckerberg responded to answers asked by the Congress?

I am not implying that a CEO should answer all questions nor that he should evade saying the I don’t know term not at all, as being honest and clear to customers is a very important factor. I am just saying that Elon Musk is so involved in many processes in Tesla that he can easily answer many questions asked.

Actually one of the things that are so remarkable about Tesla and Elon Musk are that they are clear to customers, Tesla will say we are going to do this to ensure that the customer is satisfied.

One of the new ideas that Tesla introduced to the industry is that Tesla cars are sold directly to customers without the need of a car dealer, yes it had a negative impact on car dealers that want to make business with Tesla but the end user "the real customer" is happier, thus he is more satisfied.

Another challenge that Elon Musk himself set to car manufactures is the 5 stars in all categories including safety. It is said that the models S's roof are so strong that the machine used to measure its stiffness was broken! You might have heard of the Audi roof story in the shooting of the Ironman, and how they had to change the end of the movie because the movie makers could neither flip the car or "make it spin in the air" nor tear through its roof, almost the same applied for the model S.

In addition to this, Tesla's cars are always having software upgrades that add to customer satisfaction, in some cases the upgrades added to the performance to the car! This gives the impression that Tesla cares about its customers and their driving experience.

Moreover, Self-driving cars were a few years ago science fiction, and now thanks to Tesla and other companies like Nvidia, Google, Uber etc it is expected to become a reality in the next 5-7 years! Did you notice that once again such a revolution in car use and car transportation is not lead but its greatest manufacturers? Seems it's becoming a trend, and now they are trying to catch up with the shift in market and customer demands. Will they be able to adapt to this new era is left to the coming few years.

Thanks to minds like Elon Musk and others, who are not afraid to try something new, just because nobody did it before, and they did not comply to the phrase "This is how it's done". In the matter of fact they are challenging not only car manufactures but they are challenging themselves to do more than just another car. This might be one of the reasons that there are about 500 thousand reservations for the coming model 3.

When Elon Musk and his team found that their demand for rechargeable Lithium batteries will exceed the entire world supply of rechargeable batteries, they did not stop and say oh snap... we can't do it! They planned a multi-phase mega-factory that when finished will have the second largest footprint on earth! they are calling it the Gigafactory.

The very way they assemble their batteries is a piece of art that they not only use hundreds of laptop batteries but also they are divided in a patent-protected way to squeeze the maximum current output possible. Telsa is offering a warranty on the batteries for 8 years in the sizzling hot UAE with Unlimited milage! If that is not confidence I don't know what is?

Another thing they did called the supercharger that can be used to fill Tesla's cars with power and can store electricity in cheap times and supply it in more expensive times, it can also be integrated with solar panels and reduce dependence on grid electricity.

Then came the next big step they merged with a solar panel supplier and innovated a new solar panel design that looks like regular roof tiles but can produce electricity and it is expected to be cheaper than normal roof tiles.

So not only it can produce electricity, it is cheaper, more durable and more fashionable than normal roof tiles so it’s a great deal for consumers that are going to save money from producing electricity and storing it into a wall mounted factional supercharger, and will also save money in the initial costs of their roof above their heads.

It’s a great deal for many people even if they are not environmentally aware. And Tesla and Solar City are not joking about the solar part as they already transformed an Island from dependence on diesel generators to fully solar dependent Island.

Did Tesla Stop There?

No, they did not stop... and are still introducing many ideas that are proving to be game changers, recently Elon Musk unveiled a new master plan to produce Electric Trucks, yes you read it right Electric Trucks and electric buses. Can you imagine this?

Years ago many speculators were saying that even if all North America's cars became hybrid, pollution problems and fossil fuel dependence will persist as buses and trucks are still dependent on fossil fuels; then after that came the idea of bio-diesel but many say it is not practical and needs more improvements. Tesla is now transforming the notion that trucks and buses could be as clean as any other electric car they produce.

But what about Tesla's Truck Performance?

Electric Truck Tesla Design

Well... quite simply a Tesla truck is expected to outperform any diesel semi truck that is mass produced in the market, in almost all aspects acceleration, braking, safety, motor mileage lifespan and much more!

For More information about Tesla's truck, you can watch the video below of the Revealing of such truck to the public.

So what is next For Tesla?

A few days ago Tesla hired a former Apple CEO to aid in the process of making self-driving cars, this implies how serious Tesla is in achieving a goal as big as a safe self-driving car.

Elon Musk goes beyond this and says "Your car can work for you", yes he explains this as rather than keeping the car parked in the parking lot until your 9 to 5 shift ends, why not have your car drive other passengers to their destinations and make money for you in the process, this idea can be the new carpool! Can you imagine how that will contribute to the entire notion of transportation?

Hyperloop Potential

Elon Musk also held a competition for anyone to take part in, the competition was about the design of the best hyper-loop as a prototype, that later can be one of the most efficient ways for transportation with lower costs that are far below regular train lines. Now UAE is thinking of liking Dubai with Abu Dhabi using a Hyperloop train that will reduce transport time between the two cities to just 12 minutes!

The Boring Company

Well, Elon Musk seems to be a man the never stops, he announced the boring company. Boring will mainly dig tunnels... duh! to connect cities and reduce traffic on ground levels AKA the streets! The concept is simple and integrates the hyperloop concept in it as well, but in this case in underground tunnels that can be multi-leveled and interconnected.

This is yet another promising filed where Elon Musk seems to be pushing the limits and boundaries to quite new levels. And once again offering people new innovations that solve complex problems that affect the lives of millions around the world.

Conclusion

I expect many future innovations from Tesla as they seem to be striving on such cutting-edge new yet very needed ideas. I am not saying that other car manufacturers are evil, I simply urge them to be more innovative as this industry is already more than 100 years old and calls for the injection of many innovations. I urge car manufacturers to be part of the car revolution and try to make cars that make customers happier and much safer than before.

So do you think that Elon Musk and Tesla is on the right track?
